I’m doing my best to keep tabs on who could be taking codes without posting, but it seems like it’s not just one person. I’ve already blocked a couple of people, but it keeps happening. Alllllright. Not sure who took it, sorry to point fingers. All I know is that after I posted the code, the site was viewed by keb, then Crista, then Joe. Crista posted RNBM, and keb and joe said nothing.

We’ve been up and running for a few weeks now, and aside from a few lurkers snatching codes without saying anything, it has been a real success. On a side note, I wanted to add that a couple of people are “testing the time difference”. I’m not really sure what the purpose of this is, unless you’re all just checking to see if I’m at my computer.
When anyone posts a comment, it waits for my approval before publishing the comment for everyone to see. (This is because I don’t want tons of spam on our page, not to ‘censor’ anyone’s comments.) Once I hit “approve”, the comment is visible to the public, and everyone can see it. My comments are approved/displayed automatically, so you should all be able to see the codes at the same exact second, given you don’t have super slow dial-up. If your comment doesn’t show up right away, its because I am away from the computer and should be approving it very soon. Hope this clears up any confusion, and I am always happy to answer questions so feel free to ask!

Hi everyone! It has recently come to my attention that some of our visitors have been using a nifty internet trick to constantly refresh our page without having to constantly click refresh! While this seems to be providing SOME of you (you know who you are, lol) with an advantage over others, it isn’t exactly fair for me to let it continue without saying something.
There are several sites out there providing this service (automatic page refreshing), and it doesn’t seem like I can do anything to block it (though I am still trying). While I don’t think it is fair to do this, some of you already are. I’m just letting the rest of you know, so that maybe it stays as fair as possible….

Maybe I should reinstate the comments RSS button… I guess I’m just trying to figure out why a few people have such an easy time snagging so many codes, and others haven’t gotten any. I hate seeing the site dominated by 3 or 4 people who have gotten dozens of codes! Any suggestions? I really appreciate it!

I refresh the good old fashion way, point and click. If there are any sites that do it for you (and faster) I am clueless as to where they are, or how they work.
About other sites I got points from, I probably should not have mentioned it, but I was so excited because I don’t ever get that lucky. I didn’t share the link, and would not, because ColaGal has already asked us not to do that.

I have only gotten, maybe 4-5 codes over the 2 + weeks I have been frequenting here. Other people, like Needscodes, have gotten almost that many in 2 days. Maybe people should limit themselves? If you get one or two a day, have courtesy and allow someone else a turn.

colagal… even with rss turned off… the Firefox browser has the live bookmarks feature as well… so even removing the button will only go so far. It will be almost impossible to keep people from doing it… I would just encourage everyone else to do it…

On a different note, out of curiosity, does anyone know how the colored squares to the left of our names are generated? it seems that four or five other ppl have the same light blue square design that i have, yet other people have different and unique ones…just curious..

What I do is when I return bottles, if anyones throw away coke boxes, I take the flaps off if they were left on. It does happen that people throw them away, btu sometimes they’re still there too.
Last year when I really wanted an award through pepsi, I actually asked people returning bottles if I could remove the caps from the bottles in their cart, and explain why and what I’m trying to get.
I do live in a smaller sized town as well, so maybe that makes that option more viable. (it’s not one of those towns that only take up one intersection and nothing else tho. hehe)

I don’t know what’s going on. NeedsCodes seems so nice, and always says thanks and how much they appreciate the site… I don’t want to point any fingers when I don’t have any evidence against them.
Some people are going to figure out ways to manipulate my site so that they can take all the codes for themselves. I just wish that people wouldn’t take my generosity for granted. Both companies have the bottling and distribution rights in certain areas, but still produce competitors in areas where they don’t own the rights (Pibb Xtra and Dr. Slice). Yes I have entered many codes from Coke bottles before and it has worked. I don’t know about the widget – what does that do? It’s just that everytime I enter one of the codes given theres an error, even when nobody has redeemed it yet.

Hm. That IS really strange! Anybody have any ideas? The only thing I can think of is maybe you aren’t deleting all of the punctuation out of the code. I add it into the letters and numbers to give more people a fighting chance at the code. What error message are you getting?

It just says Error not recognised code and I am 100% sure I remove all punctuation. Does the fact that it’s lower case count? Because my codes I usually get are always upper-case. What does the widget do? I think maybe that may be affecting it.

Carl, this has happened to me rarely on past occasions. I would just remember to log out of the widget (right click, logout) at the end of each day, and login to it in the mornings. Sometimes it just needs to be “reset”

The widget takes caps or lower case. Maybe you are converting it to caps and mistaking an L (seeing “l”) when it should be number 1? I can’t think of anything else that would affect the widget. I hate to see you keep trying, because 20 invalids or already redeemed will lock you out of your account.
