    • Coke was the first soft drink in space- it was enjoyed by astronauts via a special “space-can” in July of 1985.
    • It took 58 years to sell the first billion gallons of Coca-Cola syrup. Now they sell that much every 7.5 months.
    • “Good To The Last Drop” was a slogan originally used by Coke, later becoming the Maxwell House Coffee slogan.
    • The Coca-Cola trademark is recognized by 94% of the world’s population, making it the most recognizable on Earth.
    • Every second, over 7,000 Coke products are consumed.
    • Coca-Cola’s signature red color comes from when it was shipped in used whiskey barrels- they were painted red as a distinctive mark and the color stuck!
    • A Mexico City bottler produces more Coca-Cola than anyone, anywhere.
    • More than 5 billion bottles of Coke were consumed by military personnel during WWII. (At the start of the war, the sugar used in the syrup for civilian consumption was restricted down to 50% due to rationing. This lasted through Aug. 1947.)

    • The story goes that in November of 1886, a (drunken) John G. Wilkes walked into a drugstore with a headache and requested a bottle of Coca-Cola syrup. To get instant relief, he asked the soda jerk to mix up a glass on the spot. Rather than walk to the other end of the counter to mix it with cold tap water, the clerk suggested using soda water. Wilkes remarked it tasted really great, and soon Coca-Cola was a fizzy, carbonated drink.
    • In 1916, Coca-Cola’s slogan was “It’s fun to be thirsty when you can get a Coca-Cola!”. In 1932 it was “Ice-cold Sunshine!”. 1933: “Don’t wear a tired, thirsty face!” :D
    • Standard colas are flavored with orange, lemon, and lime behind the signature vanilla, coca, and kola tastes. Coke is more orange based, while Pepsi contains more lemon. Also, the sugar and carbonation differ with Pepsi ending up a little sweeter and a little flatter than Coke.
